Eighty thousand cyclists from all countries come to Mallorca in the spring, a major boost to the island's economy, so encouraging cycling is official government policy. Riding along the official Cycle Routes west of Arenal (40kph limit) you will meet hundreds of cyclists, the few cars treat you with respect. There is a dedicated Cycleway all along the seafront from Arenal to Palma. Within an hour of being met at Palma airport, you can be riding along it! Racing starts with the Pro Tour of Mallorca in early February, other major events and World class track racing in the new Palma Velodrome follow. Doug has an incomparable forty years of experience in supplying the needs of bikers who know Mallorca is the best place for training, racing or simply a holiday, and now he welcomes every year many cyclists from Ireland, USA, Austria, Germany, Scandinavia and Russia to this lovely and bike-friendly island. The friendly relationship with the Hotel proprietors and local cycling organisations has developed over the same period. Doug's team are all old Mallorca hands and can cope with just about every eventuality. The three star Ayron Park Hotel is a base for hundreds of cyclists, from clubmen to pros to the Czech World Champs Track squad, as well as Steve Calland with the Cycling Weekly bike testing team. Italian, Japanese and GBR sailing squads using the Mallorca Regatta to train for the Olympics also base themselves at the hotel. The secure bike garage beneath the hotel, with repair and bike washing facilities, holds 180 bikes. Rooms are of good size and comfortable. The restaurant serves meals buffet style, enough even for cyclists! There is a well appointed bar / café and a large pool. Seafront - the famous Playa de Palma - is 50 metres away. Two great bike shops, Ciclos Quintana and Becqui's, are within walking distance. Buses, to Palma or the station, run along the seafront. There is a cashpoint here as well.
